Meet The Owner

Desiree McLean relocated as of Fall 2021 to Barriere from the Fraser Valley. Desiree brings with her 14 years of experience in training and caring for dogs of all ages and breeds. She has owned, and currently owns, several dogs herself from puppies to seniors in various breeds.

Desiree enjoys training with puppies as she believes a good start is the best option, however she has also spent a decade helping rescue dogs and dogs with all types of behavioural issues, often quite serious and challenging cases. Studying psychology and behaviour and helping families with their dogs become her ultimate passion for the last decade. She understands what a busy family life is and offers realistic solutions for the every day average pet owner. Desiree enjoys working one on one with clients in real life environments. It’s a completely different, more intimate, and ultimately more efficient and successful way of training dogs.

She is now excited to bring her vast experience to the town of Barriere, where she will now focus on building a small dog care facility (kennel) to take care of dogs while their owners travel. The priority being limited dogs to provide top quality care and special attention that the dogs may not receive at a larger kennel.

Desiree is mom to 2 daughters, 7 dogs, 4 cats and a bunny. She is enjoying the change of pace and scenery and working towards fulfilling her dream of owning a small acreage and hobby farm.
